As a Director in Freight Forwarding, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our road freight forwarding division. You’ll lead strategic initiatives, drive commercial success, and help us unlock new opportunities in a dynamic and competitive market.

 

How will you make an impact?

The role of Director Freight Forwarding reports to our Executive Director Operations.

As Director Freight Forwarding at Ewals Cargo Care, you will be the catalyst for unifying our freight forwarding operations across Europe—driving strategic alignment and spearheading our ambitious growth agenda. With full P&L responsibility, you’ll shape the future of our freight forwarding business while ensuring operational excellence and financial performance. You’ll lead and inspire a diverse international team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your strategic mindset, combined with a hands-on leadership style, will be key to translating vision into tangible results. As a core member of the Operations Management Team, you’ll influence group-wide decisions and spearhead growth initiatives across global trade lanes. What will you do?

As Director Freight Forwarding, you will:

  • Lead and inspire a team of multiple international branches;
  • Drive the strategic and operational harmonization of freight forwarding activities across the group;
  • Take full P&L ownership of a €125 million division;
  • Be a key member of the Operations Management Team, influencing group-wide decisions;
  • Spearhead year-over-year growth and business development initiatives;
  • Optimize carrier management and global trade lane performance;
  • Ensure financial excellence through budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

 

Who are we looking for?

  • Strategic and hands-on leadership approach with a proven ability to translate vision into execution;
  • 7-10 years of international experience in transport and logistics, with a strong focus on freight forwarding related to road transport;
  • Extensive people management experience;
  • Deep market knowledge across global logistics hubs and trade lanes, with a focus on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction;
  • Highly skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization, consistently achieving or exceeding financial targets;
  • Track record of identifying and developing new business opportunities, expanding service offerings, and enhancing customer value;
  • Willingness to travel. Travel is focused on EU.

What do we offer?

In this role we offer flexible working conditions. We can fill this role remotely, but regular travel to our HQ is required in that case. We offer a competitive salary, bonus, lease car or car allowance. We have a pension scheme that is paid almost entirely by Ewals Cargo Care. We offer 28 vacation days with the option to purchase an additional 10 days. We support you with travel in this role. Ewals Cargo Care considers your health very important gives you the opportunity to sign up for a preventive medical examination health checks, but you can use a bicycle scheme and fitness scheme with a tax benefit as well

Ewals Cargo Care now employs approximately 2,550 employees from 29 locations in 14 countries throughout Europe. The head office is located in Tegelen (near Venlo).
