I joined Ewals Cargo Care at the age of 21 because I was looking for more than just a job. I wanted a place where I could build a long-term career and really develop my full potential. That’s exactly what I found here.

 

What stood out to me straight away is that Ewals is a family-owned company with a clear vision for the future. The focus on multimodal transport and sustainability really appealed to me and made the company feel forward-thinking and different from others in the industry.

A supportive team culture

From day one, I felt welcome. You’re not just a number here, everyone is approachable, from colleagues to management, and there’s a genuinely open and positive atmosphere. What I value most is the team spirit. Whether it’s a busy period or a big operational change, everyone is willing to help each other out. That mindset makes a huge difference.

A new challenge every day

No two weeks are ever the same in my role, and that’s what I enjoy most. I’m constantly faced with new challenges, and I really thrive on solving them. I especially enjoy working on urgent or complex shipments with the team, taking a calculated risk, and then coming in the next day to hear that everything went to plan. That’s a great feeling.

Room to grow and make an impact

Over the past five years, I’ve had the opportunity to grow step by step, from Trucking Planner to Senior Planner. Along the way, I’ve worked across different planning desks, gained international experience, and completed training programmes like ‘Train the Trainer’.

I’ve always been keen to learn and develop, and Ewals has really supported me in that. If you show initiative here, you’re given the opportunities to grow.

I’m particularly proud of contributing to the development of new planning desks (Northeastplanning) and showing new ways of how great performance can be achieved for big customers. It’s rewarding to see that the ideas you bring forward can have a real impact on how we work.

Where work and enjoyment come together

It’s not just the work that makes it enjoyable, the social side is just as important. From events like the Colchester Half Marathon to summer and Christmas parties, there are plenty of opportunities to connect with colleagues. Over time, many of them have become real friends, which makes coming to work even better.

My advice:  If you’re looking to build a career in logistics, this is a great place to be. Work hard, stay curious, and ask questions, there’s always something to learn. If you do that, the opportunities will follow. And most importantly, enjoy what you do.
